Sea stories, regattas, must-see places. It’s SAIL of June!

Why get on board with us for the June issue of the Sailing Journal? For many good reasons. 2. I WHO INVENTED MODERN BOATS
We honored him at the VELAFestival without his knowledge. Dick Carter was moved. To think that someone had even given him up for dead, but Dick is just fine. He designed radical hulls that in ten years of mad design flair changed the history of yachting forever. We tell you the story of a true sacred monster of design.

3. CARS VS BOATS.
In this unusual feature we analyze the points of contact in the name of safety in the automobile and boat sectors. Volvo is the benchmark in car safety: we compared the new XC90 with… think about it, a Dufour 560 Grand Large! 4. WHERE YOU GO ON VACATION
Summer is coming, and in these twenty special pages we offer 29 ideas for your cruise: just find the ideal charter boat (and destination) and get away. 5. 148 BOATS IN TIGULLIO
Some have already dubbed it the “Barcolana of the Tyrrhenian Sea” in spirit and characteristics. The VELA Cup had a bang on, 148 boats. Numbers beyond all expectations for the great sailing festival, capable of awakening the many boats “hidden” in one of the most beautiful gulfs in the world. We tell you how it went (and why it was so successful).

6. EVIDENCE OF THE MONTH
We tested for you the Oceanis 60, an ideal boat for those who want to go on a world tour, with a well-protected cockpit and a stellar-sized aft beach area; and the Maxi 1200, designed by Olympic champion Pelle Petterson: a 12-meter Swedish in spirit (although made in Poland) that features smart solutions and in light winds goes like a charm…

7. TEN YEARS WANDERING ALONE IN THE OCEAN.
Beautiful, young, successful surfer, Liz Clark in 2005 set sail from California aboard a 1966 twelve-footer. He has been sailing in the Pacific ever since to raise awareness of environmental issues. Accompanying her on this journey is only her cat. When we briefly told you his story on our website, 145,000 of you read it!

8. DODECANESE CRUISE
Where the Meltemi subsides and you can smell the oriental scent of Turkish shores. Our own Stefania Mattioli tells us about her sailing among the islands of the northeastern Dodecanese, with a stop on the nearby Turkish coast at Kusadasi. Another cue if you don’t know where to go this summer….
