As the demand for increasingly luxurious and comfortable catamarans continues to grow, bold and innovative proposals that aim to combine high performance with cutting-edge design are also emerging on the market. In this 2025 we are likely to see even more “out of the box” catamarans, as several models have already been unveiled that are making waves, meeting the needs of owners looking for unique and unforgettable solutions. Sustainability, performance, and attention to advanced technologies are just some of the trends and innovations that will characterize the nautical landscape of multihulls in the coming year, promising to surprise and fascinate new owners.
The trimaran for sailing fun

Rapido Trimarans ‘ most innovative proposal is called Rapido 53 XS, an acronym meaning “extra space.” It is a boat that is designed for sailors who want ample space on board, but without sacrificing performance. Developed by the Morelli & Melvin studio, the 53 XS starts from the already excellent base of the 50-footer presented in 2020 that, for the occasion, is expanded without being overturned. Like its smaller brother the 50 XS, the Rapido 53 has a larger flare above the waterline of the central hull, which allows it to accommodate a salon that is not exaggeratedly large, but with a 360-degree view of the surrounding waters. This modified and expanded structure “weighs” the boat down by just 800 kg.
2025 catamarans. The green option

Meanwhile, they are not made of fiberglass, but of basalt fiber, a recyclable material.
The construction also is sandwich where the core, in 50 percent of the boat, is PVC/PET, i.e., recycled plastic. Very interesting, then the propulsion and energy system. In the Windelo 54 (pictured), thrust is provided by two electric motors of 20 kW each coupled to a 53.8 kWh (1120Ah at 48 volts) MG lithium battery pack with shaftline transmission.
New, but above all innovative, Windelo is a shipyard born in 2018, in the homeland of French-style Cats, Occitania, and it immediately set itself apart from all others. First and foremost because of its soul that is sincerely concerned with the sustainability of its designs. Its boats (it currently has two models on its list, Windelo 50 – 15.24 x 7.95 m – and Windelo 54 – 16.24 x 7.98 m – this year’s novelty), are in fact not made of fiberglass, but of basalt fiber, a recyclable material. Moreover, the construction is sandwich where the core, in 50 percent of the boat, is PVC/PET, i.e., recycled plastic. The result is therefore boats that are attentive to a real circular economy applied to the boating world.
