In Fourth installment of this column dedicated to the world of catamarans we analyzed the range over 14 meters, with proposals from Dufour Cat, Excess, CCat, Allures and Bali.
Let’s go up a range and find out what the shipyards producing catamarans even beyond 15 meters offer. Catana, Ita Catamarans, Lagoon, Privilege and Leopard will be the protagonists of today’s installment dedicated to the world of the two hulls.
Ita catamarans /
Ita cat 14.99
–
(14.99 x 7.80 m)

The first from this Italian shipyard, the 14.99, is a boat that was born with considerable ambitions and wants to position itself in a rather high market segment, there where only some French and other international brands go. The look is sporty, with totally inverted bows and sharp volumes. The ambitions are also to first build a totally environmentally friendly boat from the propulsion point of view, thanks to the important partnership with OCEANVOLT. Lithium batteries are recharged while sailing through the propulsion propellers themselves and by a solar panel system. www.itacatamarans.com
CATANA /
Catana Ocean Class
–
(14.99 x 7.83 m)

The new Ocean Class in addition to performance has a philosophy more oriented to long sailing. Lightweight and strong, thanks to the use of carbon, the hulls of this catamaran were designed to best adapt to the wind to always ensure the right comfort for those on board. In keeping with Catana tradition, the catamaran will be equipped with adjustable daggerboards to improve sailing performance and manage to to ensure crisp sailing even upwind.
Catamaran Special: LAGOON /
Lagoon 51
–
(15.35 x 8.10 m)

On the new cruising catamaran Lagoon has increased attention to outdoor spaces, particularly in two places, the fly bridge and in the area in front of the deckhouse. The 50 on the Fly had only a sundeck area, which on the 51 becomes a real living area with table and seating. Same thing in front of the deckhouse, where before there were only two seats we now find almost a mini cockpit, while keeping the front net in place. A battery of solar panels may also be placed right on the fly bridge.
PRIVILEGE/Signature510 (15.24 x 7.98 m)

In the new D-light version utto the optimized and revised rigg is designed with high-performance materials: a carbon mast, carbon boom, a Kevlar rigging, and larger membrane sails. The interior, however luxurious and finished, has been lightened oer to contain the boat’s overall displacement and improve performance. The interior design is by Darnet Design, the design by Marc Lombard.
