electric motors

At last theecobonus for marine engines is a reality. After the publication of the signed decree by the Ministries of Made in Italy, Environment, Transport and Economy last October 15, now the ecobonus moves to its operational phase.

The Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy, which is managing the initiative, has indicated the terms and procedures for submitting applications to access the facilities for the replacement and scrapping of endothermic boat engines, powered by fossil fuels, with electric motors.

When it starts and how long it lasts

Beginning April 8 and ending May 8, those interested will be able to apply through the online application window that will be set up by Invitalia, the entity that will handle applications on behalf of the ministry.

The measure had been launched by a decree issued by Minister Adolfo Urso last Sept. 5 in collaboration with the Ministries of Environment and Energy Security, Infrastructure and Transport, and Economy and Finance.
The aim is to encourage the ecological transition in recreational boating as well through the replacement and scrapping of traditional engines (gasoline and diesel) in boats with electric ones, while also supporting the purchase of related batteries.

How the ecobonus works

Only one application for the facility may be submitted, which may be for the purchase of up to two electric motors if the applicant is an individual, and multiple motors if the applicant is anenterprise that owns recreational craft used for commercial, sporting or social purposes.

The subsidy for each outboard electric motor with an integrated battery power of not less than 0.5 Kw and up to 12 Kw is 2,000 euros, and for outboard motors with an external battery, inboard, inboard-outboard or propulsion POD is 10,000 euros. There are 3 million euros in the field, the grant is non-repayable and covers up to 50 percent of eligible expenses with a ceiling of 8,000 euros in case the request comes from an individual and up to 50,000 euros in case of a company.
