The Classic Boat Club is more and more alive, and there are more and more boats registered in the Official Register of Classic Boats of Historical Value!
For those who may have missed a few steps, the Classic Boat Club is the new community reserved for fans of historic sailboats, namely Classic Boats, hulls built since 1967 and at least 25 years old. Within this, in addition to the archive of Historic Classic Boats and a host of benefits, the Official Registry of Classic Boats of Historical Value also comes to life, a portal dedicated to certifying the historical and collectible relevance of individual hulls, emphasizing, in both practical and cultural terms, their new value. Dedicated to enhancing the value of your hulls, this registry is, in fact, not only dedicated to certifying the beautiful boats of the last century, but also wants to be a place of sharing, of celebration. That is why, the Classic Boats registered, are visible to all members, creating an online space to share, even more than before, the passion for sailing.
Explore the Official Registry of Classic Boats of Historical Value
Designed to be a searchable archive, the Official Register is, among other things, an online platform to which all Classic Boat Club members have access (find out how to join here) and through which they can browse dozens and dozens of boats, discovering their data, history and images. And the boats are constantly increasing. To understand them better, here are a few of them, whether series or one-off…

Official Register: Doktor Faust, Doug Peterson
Doktor Faust, sister boat of the winning Karina Von Forell, was built in 1982 by the legendary SAI Ambrosini shipyards in Passignano sul Trasimento, Umbria, a reality founded by Milanese aeronautical engineer Angelo Ambrosini. Based on the design of “Karina” (1978), Doktor Faust would later remain one of the stars of the international sailing scene. She then sat idle in the yard for more than two decades, and was restored and brought to new life in 2022. On the refit front, the work goes to Cossutti Yacht Design, which restored her entire hull, respecting the original design, except for a few touches made to make her perform better and make sense in the contemporary context, including a new rationalization of the deck layouts and the removal of the skeg in favor of a “hanging” rudder. Today, she races again and with no small amount of satisfaction.

Official Record: Express, IMX-38
The IMX-38 is an icon among offshore monotypes, a great design signed by Jeppesen and produced in no less than 92 examples since 1992. Express, from 1993, is one of them, strong with no small palmares. In 2011 , with the previous owner , Express, in fact won the STEINER X-YACHTS Mediterranean CUP, then many other regattas and victories in the Gulf of La Spezia and finally … a long hibernation . Purchased a few months ago, we want to get her running again at sea .

Official Record: Isolaria, Grand Soleil 39
It was the early 1980s when Cantiere del Pardo presented a GS like few. An inverted, narrow transom mirror and an anvil, blue-striped deckhouse. The press immediately dubbed it the “Spaghetti Swan,” partly out of affection, partly precisely because at a glance it looked like the Finns. But the Grand Soleil 39 deserved all the comparison, Jèzèquel’s little masterpiece. Isolaria is the 18th example, launched in 1984, now in her third owner since 2010.

Official Record: Clan, Impala 36
In 1973, in Sardinia, a boat with unseen lines disrupted the sailing scene. It was Doug Peterson’s Ganbare and it upset the design philosophies of the time. Cantiere Navale 71 understood at once and mass-produced it, giving birth to the Impala 36 series, hulls that are nothing short of excellent and true cult of Mediterranean sailing. Clan is a good demonstration of this, launched in 1974 and with a more than noteworthy palmares behind her..

Her name was Flash Gordon and she won 3 IMS World Championships in 1993, 1994 and 1996, with Terry Hutchinson at the helm and a crew of Olympians. This boat, with structural steering wheels and a 7/8 rigging, was the first of 6 Flash Gordons, again designed by Bruce Farr and gave birth to the subsequent Farr 40s produced for One-design racing.
