Gunboat will unveil a revolutionary “Fusion” concept in Cannes, ushering in a new category in the world of multihulls: the Grand Touring Catamaran. We still don’t have many details about this new line of cruising supercatamarans, but we will know more soon. The world launch will take place on September 9 during the Cannes Yachting Festival with an immersive presentation including 3D visuals and full technical details.
Who is Gunboat
Gunboat is a shipyard specializing in building high-performance carbon cruising catamarans, founded in 2002 in the United States. The brand revolutionized the industry 25 years ago by creating a new category: the high-performance cruising catamaran, combining racing DNA with habitable elegance.
After a few difficult years, the company was acquired by the French Grand Large Yachting group in 2016. Since 2017, production has moved to La Grande-Motte, on the French Mediterranean coast, in a 4,000-square-meter factory.
The Concept Fusion
The Gunboat Fusion represents a bold evolution of the company’s philosophy of “Fast Sailing. Full Living.” This 80-foot catamaran is built of advanced composites, designed for speed, optimized for lightness, and crafted with French savoir-faire.
Distinctive features include a 19-square-meter owner’s suite with private access to the sea, a panoramic flybridge, and, of course, an all-carbon hull.
The realization of Fusion is entrusted to collaborations of excellence: naval architecture is signed by VPLP, a world benchmark for offshore performance and efficient cruising; exterior design is by Patrick Le Quément, a legendary former Renault style manager who also brought his iconic vision to the nautical industry, and Christophe Chedal Anglay, an exterior designer who has already worked on several Gunboat projects. The interiors, conceived by Christian Gavoille and Valérie Garcia, take advantage of natural light and refined proportions for an unprecedented on-board experience
As Benoît Lebizay, Managing Partner of Gunboat explained about the Fusion project, “With Fusion, we have gone beyond the typical redefinition of volume and space. Fusion is for those who want to go further, live bigger and make every journey an experience. ”
