A total of 95 boats representing 7 nations are set to depart, Friday 12 at 5 p.m. from Naples, for the 68th edition of the Tre Golfi Regatta. The race will be valid for the Italian Offshore Championship, but will also be calculated in the scoring of theEuropean Championship reserved for Maxi, and the Mediterranean ORC Championship, which will then continue with racing between the buoys in Sorrento.
The route after departure from Naples includes passing around the island of Ponza, the Li Galli rock near Capri, and the finish positioned between Naples and Sorrento, in front of the port of Massa Lubrense, for a total of 145 miles.
Regatta of the Tre Golfi – The boats to watch out for
For the line honors win Furio Benussi’s maxi 100 ARCA is the number one suspect, but watch out because also in the race will be Pigi Loro Piana’s Club Swan 80 My Song, fresh off some keel modifications to make the boat even better performing. Also competing in the maxi category will be a historic boat, Carlo Puri Negri’s 21-meter Farr Atalanta II . A total of 28 maxis will compete for the Tre Golfi Regatta and then the European title.

Tre Golfi Regatta – What the weather will be like
The weather for this 68th Tre Golfi Regatta promises to be a real headache for sailors and tacticians. The Tyrrhenian Sea is affected by a depression circulation that should ensure a moderately windy race, but it is on the timing of the southeast wind entry that is the real unknown. The first phase of racing, the starting signals for which will begin for maxis at 5 p.m. and at 5:15 p.m. for all other classes, could be affected by light, southwesterly to southeasterly winds. In the night between Friday and Saturday the wind intensity will go up, to likely 15-20 knots, and the direction will be east-southeast.
Saturday’s day could present the same score again, with a gradual increase in the wave and a near-shore-oriented wind, which should ensure a fairly direct course on the descent from Ponza to Capri.
