Marina di Salina – What the new Marinedi harbor looks like.

last August 28, but management will not begin until April 2024. Before starting operation, in fact, Marinedi will complete safety work to ensure its usability at all times of the year and implement the services provided by the “Marinedi standard,” such as 24-hour reception. In this way, the Marina di Salina (the network’s 15th marina) will become a usable port for most months of the year, ideally from before April until at least the end of October. The marina currently has a maximum depth of 5 meters and 158 berths that can accommodate boats up to 40 meters long. However, the Marinedi project, which has been awarded a summer concession, aims to increase the marina’s capacity to at least 200 berths. An important issue that Marinedi aims to resolve in the port of Salina is that of fees, which will be clear and fixed, as for all the other marinas in the group. Located in Santa Marina Salina, the landing place is among the few marinas in the Aeolian Islands, and therefore very popular with those passing through the area. From here one can easily explore all seven islands of theAeolian archipelago, from Stromboli to Alicudi via Vulcano, Panarea, Lipari, Filicudi, and Salina itself.

What the Marinedi network is and how it works

The Marinedi network was established in late 2012 and in about ten years has slowly expanded its presence on the Italian coast. The network’s mission is to offer the same level of services, qualified staff and a clear and exposed rate system in all the Group’s marinas: as is the case in international hotel chains. The network currently has 15 marinas scattered throughout the Italian Mediterranean and allows clients with annual contracts to move to the network’s marinas. For example, by taking advantage of the “8+4” formula, one can decide to moor for eight months in one marina in the network and move for the remaining four months to another, at no additional cost.

The development of the Marinedi network does not stop at Marina di Salina; rather, it aims to announce the network’s first foreign marina soon. We are talking about a Tunisian landfall, that of Bizerte, which could be announced during 2024 as a new addition to the network. Discussions with authorities in Tunisia are well advanced and could soon lead Marinedi to its first step toward international development.

Energy – Within 5 years, all marinas will be autonomous

Parallel to the expansion of the network,
Marinedi
is also engaged in a very ambitious environmental sustainability project. The five-year plan aims to make all of the Group’s marinas autonomous in terms of energy supply. The project was entrusted by Marinedi ‘s sole administrator to engineer Nino Mosca and involves an initial phase of state-of-the-art diagnosis of all marinas, followed by subsequent implementation of systems that can make them autonomous. All sustainable production options will be screened and decided according to different needs: photovoltaic, solar thermal, wind power, and small wind power. The possibility of creating energy communities will also be exploited and considered, so as to harness the social fabric around the marina to pool and use energy produced from sustainable sources.
