The German shipyard Pure Yachts is a recently established brand that has decided to focus everything on building aluminum boats with modern lines, also designed for fun sailing as well as being world-turning boats. The shipyard has produced two models so far, the first was the Pure 49, almost totally custom, and the second, in the final stages of construction is the Pure 42, a semi-custom.
It represents an interesting novelty because not many shipyards in the marine industry are investing in new designs taking advantage of aluminum construction, which is always popular, especially among those looking for boats for very long sailing.
Pure 42 – What a boat it is

The designer of the Pure is Martin Menzner of Berckemeyer Yacht Design, the Pure 42 is a semi-custom deck saloon with twin rudder blades and a T-shaped lift keel that allows a draft ranging from 1.2 to 3 m for shallow water. The interior will be mainly composite, which means the yacht will have a low displacement construction, very important when it comes to aluminum boats. Immediately noticeable from the renders is the centrality of the deckhouse, obviously glazed, which is the focus of dock saloon designs.

The sail plan calls for a J-mast jib, on rails but with moderate overlap, of 49 sq. m., a self-tacking foresail of 29 sq. m., and a moderate luff mainsail of 51 sq. m., for a total of 100 sq. m. upwind. The displacement target is just under 10 tons, which would make the boat snappy enough to still be a long-cruising model. One third of the displacement will be contained in the T-keel bulb. The interior layout includes 3 cabins, but as the design is custom the yard will be able to adapt to different requirements.
