What Y6, the first “baby” of Y Yachts, will look like

YYachts is currently at work on its first model designed to be driven entirely solo; U.S. naval architect Bill Tripp is in the final stages of designing a 64-foot (20-meter) yacht, which will be named Y6, thus completing the YYachts range toward the “bottom.”

Having already sold 50 boats since its founding year, in 10 years the German shipyard has developed a highly successful portfolio consisting of the 22-meter Y7, the 24-meter Y8, the 27-meter Y9 and the custom division. In particular, the Y7 is appreciated because it can be operated with a smaller crew, becoming the manufacturer’s de facto bestseller; in fact, more than 20 units of this hull alone have already been sold.

Dedicated to those who like to go in a few. Even alone

Tijl Hetterschijt, CEO of YYachts, comments, “For many owners, true luxury is being able to sail independently, without the presence of a crew. They want to enjoy the yacht only with family or close friends. With the Y6, we offer the ultimate in privacy while staying true to our key principle: perfect simplicity. We developed this model precisely in response to the many requests we received from owners and potential customers. I am convinced that sales of the Y6 will exceed those of the Y7. The first two units will be ready for delivery in spring 2026.”

What it looks like

The new Y6, almost 20 meters long, is made of carbon epoxy, as is usual for YYachts. This ensures high strength, low weight and no resin odor emissions inside, as is the case with other materials. The yacht is designed as an elegant world cruiser, which the helmsman can maneuver completely independently from the cockpit. Of course, the Y6 is also a racing weapon, as it can be outfitted with a race package optimized for ORC.

Below deck there will be several layout options to choose from to meet the different needs of owners: it will be possible to configure Y6 with three or four cabins, and there are also various configurations for the master cabin; in its class, Y6 has the highest degree of customization possible. Danish designer David Thulstrup and his team are responsible for the design. Thulstrup, an internationally renowned penciler, pursues a refined and holistic approach, combining his Scandinavian origins with a modern design language.

YYachts will provide more details and information about its new Y6 at the Palma International Boat Show, the Spanish boat show to be held April 30-May 3, 2025 in Palma de Mallorca.
