Once you have completed the boat registration, you will be redirected to the payment methods. Please note: registration for the various stages will be open while places last.
The benefits if you sign up
By making the enrollment you will gain three benefits immediately:
- Mooring space is free, on the night of the event, for registered boats arriving “from outside.” Rates for the days before and after the regatta, thanks to partnerships with host marinas, are at reduced prices (subject to availability). If you want to have a long weekend with your boat, friends and family, the VELA Cup is a great opportunity to have a guaranteed spot in some of Italy’s most beautiful harbors.
- On the day of the event, an important Gift Bag filled with products from the Journal of Sailing and additional useful gadgets for your boat and merchandise provided by our partners is given to each registrant.
- Finally, by signing up there is a chance to win fantastic raffle prizes in addition to placing in the rankings.

The Awards and how they are awarded:
With more than 50 prizes awarded at each individual stage, (almost) everyone is rewarded at the Vela Cup.
When the race is over, real time finishes are taken and compensated rankings are compiled based on the new secret rating system proposed by the Journal of Sailing. Using the rating system, everyone is allowed to compete and win with their own boat and participate in the Vela Cup according to their own style. Prizes are awarded in real time:
- the first boat in each category: Cruising Boat and Sport Boat.
- the last boat to cross the finish line.
They are awarded respecting the compensated system based on the secret formula of the Journal of Sailing:
- The top three boats in each class divided by length in each of the two categories Cruising Boat and Sport Boat.
- The overall stage winner, who will take home (or boat) the Leg Winner award
Classic Boats, i.e., boats over 25 years old, also compete for their own ranking, in which the first in each length class and participation category are awarded. Independently of the rankings, two special prizes are awarded by the jury:
- Elegant Award: the most elegant and beautiful boat at the event
- Gentlemen‘s Award: given for the special fairplay of the owner and crew
And if you are lucky
But that’s not all: there are plenty of raffle prizes offered by our partners that are awarded to the luckiest at each stage. There is only one unavoidable condition to be able to win them: be present at the big stage award party!

What is the VELA Cup 2025
