On July 5, Red Bull Sailing Academy will be presented to the public at what will become the new international hub of high-performance sailing: the Marina di Monfalcone, one of the most advanced training centers in the world and owned by the Austrian group. Jimmy Spithill and Ruggero Tita, of the Lunarossa team, will be just two of the big names featured in the Academy; “We are incredibly proud to be headlining the inauguration of the Red Bull Sailing Academy here at Marina Monfalcone,” said Jimmy Spithill, who continued, “It will be an event for everyone, from sailing enthusiasts to those simply looking for a fun day at sea. I encourage everyone not to miss it, to meet the team and enjoy an action-packed day.”
The creation of this Academy is a sign that Red Bull wants to invest in the future champions of sailing, placing the kids who will enter the program in the most important circuits, the likes of SailGP or America’s Cup. Sport director Hans-Peter Steinacher, an Austrian Olympic gold medalist, says: “This is the beginning of a new chapter for the next generation of sailing talent. Those who will be there will be able to say they have been part of it from day one. So, we are looking forward to a great participation.”
The inaugural event on July 5 will be free and open to all and will run from 1 to 8 p.m. The program will be jam-packed with events, and participants will have the opportunity to discover the world of high-performance sailing and water sports through a schedule that includes acrobatic dives from great heights, slackline performances, water skiing and wakeboarding shows, and many other adrenaline-pumping performances in true Red Bull style.
