It is called the Scrooge Scrooge Trophy, “the regatta for rich champions” as the slogan of the event scheduled to take place in Venice on Oct. 23-24. It says on the organization’s website, “You don’t have to be a sailing expert to participate, just wealthy and competitive.”

Just put the “big bucks” on the plate and the organizers (Viptur, a brand of Seca Security Cash Sagl a Swiss company of the Samarcanda Group) provide cruising boats(Elan Impression 45, Hanse 445 and Bavaria 46 Cruiser), crew and accommodations in the very luxurious Venetian Cipriani hotel.
In fact, the days leading up to the regatta on Oct. 24 will be devoted to lessons at sea to get the wealthy boat owners “familiar” with the race, while the actual regatta will be on Sunday. Each day, participants will experience the city as VIPs by visiting exclusive places and dining at the best restaurants. At 7:30 p.m. on Sunday the awards ceremony, then the gala dinner on two Venetian galleons!
