The lure of the great outdoors is a theme of endless literature and just as much cinema, and great sailing falls more than ever under this sphere, where Beneteau’s new Oceanis Yacht 60 presents itself as the answer, a suitable boat to comfortably accompany during such adventures.
With its 18.8-m LOA, streamlined water lines, the new sixty-footer in the Oceanis Yacht range is, in fact, an excellent blend of comfort, safety and performance. A boat in short, on paper, ideal for big cruising. When in doubt, we tested it just outside Barcelona, where the Oceanis Yacht 60 lived up to the expectation.

Oceanis Yacht 60 – The Project
The new Oceanis Yacht 60 is a design with vast ambitions, just as vast are its volumes. Designed while maintaining the spirit of the range, it is first and foremost a boat that is perfectly centered around two main elements: on-board comfort and safe performance.
Intentionally designed to promote the comfort of its guests, this sixty-footer is a boat that undoubtedly knows how to offer ample opportunity for relaxation, whether that be above or below deck.
Starting with the design, the naval architecture is taken care of by Biscontini Yacht Design, which has created, in this sense, a hull that can combine seaworthiness and speed well.
Indeed, the water lines are classic for the segment, yet there is a barely noticeable spread, perhaps mindful of lessons from earlier times when boating comfort was primarily provided by shape and volume.

A hull that therefore promises to know a lot, blending in itself both safety and speed capabilities. The deck is then particularly clean, free of all superfluous clutter and well protected, as is the cockpit, free of rigging, which runs all hidden, until it returns to the two helm stations, from which, virtually, the entire boat can be managed.
Further influencing the safety-comfort front is the structural roll-bar, which not only supports the mainsail luff, thus removing it from passing areas, but also supports two different types of bimini in different configurations,thus offering protection against any weather situation.
Finally, peculiar is the inclusion of a step on the deck, as is also the case on the 54, a solution that, however, allows a considerable raising of the vaults in the forward cabin, resulting in a more comfortable and spacious…
