While shipyards seem to be increasingly engaged in an endless race to build the biggest, most luxurious and consequently most expensive yacht, at the Düsseldorf Boat Show two small novelties caught the attention of sailing enthusiasts: the First 30 and the Maxus 31. Today we talk about the latter, a boat from the Polish shipyard Northman imported to Italy by Barcando.
Maxus 31 is an economical vessel for the family
Maxus 31 is an 8.99-meter vessel designed for small family cruising. Unlike its French competitor, which is a sport boat, the Maxus 31 has a clearly cruising setup, with finishes and details that one would not expect from a boat of this size and low price (from 105,900 euros excl. VAT). The cockpit is well protected both by the handguards, which double as a backrest for the benches, and by the folding stern, which converts to a convenient beach if needed. The helm is wheel steering, unique given the size of the hull with a maximum beam of 2.99 meters.
Two or three cabins? You decide!
One of the strengths of Maxus 31 is the possibility of having as many as 3 cabins with bathrooms on a boat of this size. A real rarity, considering the type of boat. In this configuration, the starboard cabin has a through bath, with a toilet in the shower stall.

If you opt for the two-cabin version instead , the bathroom gains a separate shower stall, and in the aft cabin the bed is huge (full beam).

Perfect for charter (and families)
The possibility of having three cabins also makes the Maxus 31 a perfect choice for charter, so much so that Barcando-which in addition to being an importer is also a charter operator-has already decided to include it in its fleet. This means that we will soon be able to find Maxus 31 for charter as well: an affordable option for families who want to enjoy a sea cruise without splurging.

In short, the Maxus 31 is proof that you don’t need giant boats to have fun and sail with comfort. Compact, well-designed, and excellent value for money, he brings a breath of fresh air to the 30-foot segment. And who knows, maybe he will be the one to bring some attention back to this market segment, which has been far too neglected in recent years!
