Mylius M72

Construction of the new Mylius M72. A 70-foot (20 m) high-performance yacht designed for those looking for a sporty yet refined and functional interior. Combining speed and comfort, it offers advanced solutions without compromising performance.

The Mylius according to Carkeek

Designer Shaun Carkeek has interpreted the yard’s requests, creating a hull that embodies the Mylius family feeling with a design that enhances the racing spirit. Every detail, from the hull to the interior, was designed to deliver high performance.

Hull and stability

Mylius M72 is constructed of prepreg carbon and features modern water lines with a wide stern and flared bow. It is equipped with a double rudder, lifting keel and water ballast to optimize speed and seakeeping. Thanks to the shape of the hull, the boat is stable even in heavy heeling conditions. The 1,000-liter water ballasts allow for racing even with a small crew, while the retractable keel is useful for entering shallow harbors.

Sail plan

The sail plan is designed to maximize racing performance, with a top square mainsail, J2 jib, tails 0 and A3. The cruising owner can still opt for smaller, more comfortable sails. The mast with double backstay and 29.9 m high is made by Hall Spars.

Design and performance

The lines of the Mylius M72 are sleek and modern, with an inverted bow, a deckhouse reduced to the bare minimum, and a flush deck; details such as the retractable anchor and retractable propeller reduce drag while sailing and improving the boat’s performance. The deck, made of carbon and finished in teak or skydry, is designed to facilitate maneuvering and optimize space, while the cockpit is protected by a retractable bimini and possible awning.

I winch Performance, signed Harken, are positioned so as not to get in the way of the crew, just as the rigging, all of which is concealed, will not be in the way. The stern is equipped to accommodate a tender and transform into a platform for entering the water, while the forward positioning of the rudders provides an area that can be used as a sun deck.

Mylius M72 – Customizable Interior

The interiors, designed by Parisotto+Formenton Architects, are designed to offer three cabins with private bathrooms, a fully equipped galley, and a dinette with day head: the interior spaces are typical of a blue water vessel. Owners can customize layout, colors and materials according to their preferences.

Advanced Technology

The Mylius M72 is equipped with systems designed and integrated using 3D software. The boat has advanced instrumentation and a PLC system for automatic ballast control.

A unique project

“There is no such 72-footer on the market today, because boats of these full-carbon, lifting keel and water ballast sizes are normally designed for racing use only and are therefore very stretched, uncomfortable and completely empty inside,” explains Francesco Bianchi of Mylius Yachts.

With this boat, however, Mylius wanted to elevate its super fast cruiser concept to the nth power, creating a beautiful boat capable of exceptional performance along with a comfortable, refined, and well-kept interior. Designed for the owner who wants to have fun on the Mediterranean racing circuits and also treat himself to relaxing weeks of cruising with family or friends, the M72 is the perfect boat for those who do not want to choose between the adrenaline rush of racing and comfort. Moreover, given the already very advanced stage of the work, the M72 requires only the last personal touch from the client to take to the sea-no small added benefit, considering that more than two years pass between the design and construction of such a boat “.
