After weekenders and sport boats, we turn the page completely and land in the realm of comfortable sailing. Compared to Sport Boats, everything changes with cruisers. Here volumes command over water lines, not the other way around as is the case with Sport Boats. Cockpits clear of maneuvers, popa decks equipped perhaps even with an outside galley, freeboards and widths increasingly extreme. Cruisers first and foremost want to provide vacations for their guests, vacations that it goes without saying must be as comfortable as possible. Cruisers can be designed for families but not only that, charter is not neglected at all, in fact it is one of the target markets for some of the shipyards that produce them.
Let’s explore 6 trendy patterns.
Hallberg-Rassy / HR 69 – 20.96 m

In its history, the Hallberg Rassy shipyard had never built a boat this large, the HR 69 is in fact the new flagship of the iconic Swedish brand and we went to see it up close at BOOT in Düsseldorf. The Hallberg Rassy 69 is a boat that carries with it the history and tradition of the shipyard, hence the choice of the central cockpit solution, with a level of construction and attention to detail that reflects the Hallberg philosophy in every way. A 69-footer made to be virtually indestructible, with a double crash box in the bow, handcrafted interiors from solid wood, and a hull designed to be marine but also to provide good sailing qualities especially when wind and sea conditions get tough.
The joints with the bulkheads are with faceting on both sides, the same goes for the union with the deck which does not involve “holes” with screws or through-bolts. The gelcoat is isophthalic, the first layers are vinylester resin, and an internal structural spider provides stiffness. The volumes, both fore and aft are contained, the aft edge is barely noticeable. Very elegant leapfrog rising toward the bow stretching into the structural bowsprit, sober design along the broadside of four rectangular windows. Price starting from 4,999,000. www.hallberg-rassy.it
Grand Soleil / GS 52 P – 16,20 m

Cantiere del Pardo has included the new Grand Soleil 52 in the Performance line, consisting of those models that are intended for a very demanding, competent, passionate public that does not disdain participation in regattas, for which the boat can be chosen in Race declination.
As can be imagined, the two versions differ in deck configuration and sail plan structure. The “Performance” version has a less stretched deck plan, with 4 winches aft, mainsail sheet with fixed point, self tacking jib and carbon bowsprit; the cockpit is free from rigging to be safely usable by guests while cruising.
The “Race” version, on the other hand, features 6 winches, jib trolleys, recessed mainsail traveller, sails with larger surface area and a bowsprit 90 cm longer than the standard version. The mainsail sheet is German style on both versions. The mast is positioned aft of the main bulkhead to optimize sail center and maximize performance.
Below deck, on the other hand, the distribution of space includes a dinette, C-shaped galley equipped with 3 refrigerators with freezers, and three cabins: the master cabin with bathroom in the bow, while a second bathroom, VIP cabin, and a second guest cabin with twin beds are in the aft area. At the forefront of all electronic and plant systems, the new Grand Soleil 52 Performance boasts a 24 V electrical system with thinner wiring. Price starting from 689,000 euros.
Jeanneau / Jeanneau Yachts 55 16.09 m

The two rudder areas have been advanced to create a larger sunbathing area aft. Thanks to the partial cockpit cover, the wheelhouses are sheltered, and it will be possible to install a proper external chart table.
Hanse Yachts / Hanse 410 – 11.55 m

Designed by Berret-Racoupeau, the Hanse 410 has distinctive deck geometries, around which the study of interior volumetry revolves. In fact, the boat has a deckhouse that is XXL in size, in length, width and height, and takes something away in terms of space from the size of the cockpit as well. What the deckhouse takes away on the outside it gives back, with interest, on the inside, as the 410 has the largest volumes there are on the market in the 12 m range. Height of a generous 2 m squared off.
Dufour Yachts / Dufour 48 – 15 m

Solaris Yachts / Solaris 55 15.89 m
