For those who have yet to find out, the Classic Boat Club is the new community reserved for fans of historic sailboats, namely Classic Boats, hulls built since 1967 and at least 25 years old. Within this, in addition to the archive of the Classic Historic Boats (and to so many benefits), also comes to life is the Official Register of Classic Boats of Historical Value, a portal dedicated to certifying the historical and collectible relevance of individual hulls, emphasizing, in both practical and cultural terms, their new value. Dedicated to the enhancement of your hulls, this registry is, in fact, not only dedicated to the certification of beautiful boats of the last century, but also aims to be a place of sharing and celebration. Ojalá II | One-Off Sparkman & Stephens

First to appear, Ojalà Seconda, a very elegant One Tonner IOR designed by New York firm Sparkman & Stephens and built in aluminum by Royal Huisman in 1973. This -little sister of the already registered Golondrina, i.e., Ojalà Prima- was commissioned by Charles Holland for the 1973 One Ton Cup, that year in Porto Cervo. Already in the move from Holland, however, she would have a chance to try her hand at racing, even before her arrival in Sardinia. 1973 was in fact a Fastnet Race year, and Holland, in the company of friends, did not fail to participate. Arriving in Sardinia, however, fate was adverse to Ojalà II, which had to clash with all the mastery of Admiral Straulino on Ydra, and against the great innovation of the time, the Ganbare of Doug Peterson, an alumnus of the S&S studio, which in that very year and on that occasion, appeared on the international yachting scene, revolutionizing it.

Since then, Ojalà II has crossed the Atlantic Ocean twice in ’77 and ’78 and, today, she sails 3 to 5 thousand miles each year not to miss the most beautiful regatta courses in the Mediterranean, between in Italy, Spain and France, in the ORC, IRC and CIM circuit. To this day, finally, the boat has never changed ownership, still belonging to the same family and, managed by the current Owner, Susan Holland, Charles’ daughter, continues to abide by the same rules as in the past: only friends aboard at all times.

Masque | Comet 375 CL

Designed by Doug Peterson and built beginning in 1987, the Comet 375 CL was built by Comar in as many as 112 examples in just six years. Masciò, launched in 1988, is an outstanding interpretation of the CL version, Comfort Lusso, strong with a more finished interior, equipped, moreover, with two cabins and two bathrooms. Like her peers, she is a solid, well-finished boat, with special attention to Corazza’s signature interiors and cutting-edge technical solutions for the time: central engine under the saloon table, advanced sail drive, high maneuverability and a dinghy with terminal torpedo that lowers the center of gravity, improving stability and comfort while sailing. Fine interiors, with details such as marble sinks and fine wood trim, still make her an appreciated boat today.

Marinariello | Farr 40 IMS mod. (FYD#277)

Marinariello is an emblem of Italian IMS sailing. The unimpeachable Farr Yacht Design #277, or a Farr 40 IMS mod. (11.904 x 3.794 m), was built by Cookson (NZ) in 1992 on commission of the Florentine notary Sergio Galgani, emerging as a state-of-the-art IMS 40, soon becoming confirmation of the validity of its concept, later translated into the subsequent FYD designs #336 and #374, Farr 39ML and Farr 40 One Design, respectively. From 1992 onward, it is thus a hull constantly engaged in domestic regattas, where it unhesitatingly writes its own history, both for results and for the great ‘characters’ it has seen embarked.

Today, thanks to the team and the property behind it, Marinariello is more than a boat: it is a story, an idea of authentic sailing, a project of inclusion and sport that has already proven its human and competitive value. But not only that, Marinariello is also an opportunity, now looking for co-owners (more information here).

Bololombo | Grand Soleil 43 (J&J)

Launched in the late 1990s by the Cantiere del Pardo, the Grand Soleil 43 is the classic GS of the decade, a beautifully crafted, strong performance-cruiser of great design, obviously signed by J&J. Bololombo, launched in 2003, is an excellent specimen, well maintained, and to this day, at 2nd owner, is mainly used for cruising. Beware, however, true to her spirit, she still does not disdain to try her hand between the buoys, thus marking her presence in several Tigullio regattas, including the Vela Cups. Bololombo then participated in 3 editions of the 151 Miglia.

Phantom | One-Off, C&C 66

Designed by the Canadian duo Couberthson & Cassian in 1973, Phantom was built by C&C Yachts using the then innovative double sandwich technique of balsa, fiberglass and Kevlar. Developed following the successful C&C 61 series (Grampus – Helisara – Rainbow), it soon became an important hull, not only in performance but also in innovation. In fact, the Canadian architects designed a particularly balanced hull, both in terms of lines and weight distribution, and, above all, they sought new solutions, such as the cockpit, advanced, wide, and strong with double wheel steering. The deck then, very clean, best represents the standard of a 1970s flush deck, leaving ample free space aft. In turn, the sail plan was particularly powerful, with large Genoa overlap flanked by a stay sail. The spinnakers, still famous for depicting the masked man, then gave the boat an iconic aura.

After participating in several international regattas in the early 1970s, Phantom was purchased and imported to Italy in the second half of the decade, where she participated in several Mediterranean circuits. Purchased by new ownership in the late 1990s, she then underwent a major refit at the Del Carlo shipyard in Viareggio, where the rigging was simplified and the rigging and interior were optimized. The hull color was then changed from red to white. Today, Phantom is coming back to life thanks to the “Phantom Believe in Youth” initiative, becoming a school bench to provide a tool for the new generation to grow, offering the means and skills to tackle offshore sailing and all that it entails.

Emotions | Comet 28 Race

In 1984 Comar launched a small masterpiece, perhaps initially underestimated. It is the Comet 28 Race, an excellent design by the French master, Jean Marie Finot, produced in 75 examples from 1984 to 1995. Emozioni, launched in 1986, is an exceptional example, now restored and updated, and still more than capable of having its say on the water. Not for nothing, the 2025 edition of the Barcolana, saw it win in class against a few hundred competitors…

Today, its owner’s 34th boat, Emozioni is in fact a particular Comet 28 Race, a boat that fully lives the spirit of sailing and that, just as it did in its time, still experiences continuous updates to remain competitive despite the years. With this in mind, the appendages are now new, strong with a new bulb (designed by Paolo Bua), increased in length (2.00 m vs 1.60 m), but lighter in weight. However, the balances do not change, nor the righting thrusts, but performance is greatly increased, aided by the updated mast and increased sail plan. And the speeds prove it, fluctuating between a critical 6.1 and 6.2 upwind, with performance one knot higher than true on the slack, where the reduced displacement extracts the full potential from the new VMGs.

The daughter of an enthusiastic owner, Emotions remains a ‘classic’ hull, however, with hints of teak in the cockpit, despite its weight, and character still as a great IOR, always on the water, always between the buoys…
