The new C-Cat 65 catamaran is the fruit of the experience gained by Comar Yachts, a Roman shipyard that has launched thousands of boats since the early 1960s, many of which have made history on the world’s major race courses. This established technical tradition represents a real guarantee for the owner, because behind every line, structural detail and choice of materials lies the vision of someone who knows sailing and has sailed thousands of miles.

Comar Yacht C-Cat 65: who designed it

Comar Yachts has chosen to maintain a handcrafted production dimension even on the future flagship C-Cat 65, on which the veil will be lifted at the upcoming Cannes Boat Show (Sept. 9-14); this production process allows for total control over every stage of production, from lamination to finishing; by employing expert hands, scrupulously selected materials and devoting the right amount of time to making each component in the best way, the shipyard has thus avoided any form of assembly line.

The design of the C-Cat 65 was born from the passion and expertise of an established team: Enrico Contreas, the historical signature of numerous high-performance multihulls; Marco Amadio with his design and engineering studio; and Naval Design, responsible for structural calculations, FEM analysis, and CFD simulations; Comar Yachts’ in-house technical office also participated in the project. Conceived as a high-performance sport catamaran, carbon is used without exaggeration to enhance the forms, but above all to ensure functionality, robustness and technological innovation.

What does it look like

The deck of the new catamaran signed Comar Yacht is made entirely of carbon, a choice that allows a significant reduction of weight at the top of the boat, thus lowering the center of gravity and improving overall stability; the deckhouse is designed with modern lines, using the so-called “reverse rake” and backward sloping glass, echoing the lines of boats engaged in the heaviest work.

The transom, bowsprit, bulkheads and all supporting structures of the hulls are also made of carbon, benefiting torsional rigidity and precision of response even in the most demanding sailing conditions; the mast, made of carbon pre-preg, provides the ultimate in lightness, strength and aerodynamic control of the sail profile. On the water side, the mobile carbon drifts represent the perfect balance between light weight and extreme strength, redefining upwind performance and bringing efficiency to very high levels for being aboard a cruising catamaran. Finally, the hull is also built with a combination of materials that mixes carbon with fiberglass to provide the right balance of structural rigidity, light weight, and reliability even in C-Cat 65’s rough sea deployments.

What about the interior?

Inside the C-Cat 65 you will breathe in the most authentic Made in Italy, a fusion of technical rigor and aesthetic solutions that aim to redefine multihull standards, such as moving the owner’s cabin aft, which actually gives the owner a more spacious area than other catamarans’ standards.
