The big day is here: tomorrow, August 21, the curtain rises on one of the most beloved stages of the VELA Cup circuit, that of Cala dei Sardi! Over 40 registered boats and their numerous crews are ready to experience an event that has now become a true classic of summer sailing in Sardinia. There is still time to register: we look forward to seeing you at the dock!
The formula, as always, is the winning one: regatta open to everyone, no age or experience limits, free moorings, many categories(Sport Boat, Cruising Boat and Classic Boat), special (and raffle) prizes for almost everyone, and above all, a lot of desire to have fun… both on the water and ashore!
Regatta for all, without bureaucracy
The VELA Cup formula is simple and winning: no technical complications or tonnage certificates required, rankings drawn up according to the new VELA Cup secret fee, and two categories to choose from. If you love relaxed sailing, you can enter as a Cruising Boat (mainsail and jib/genoa only); if, on the other hand, you want to test yourself by also using headsails such as spi/gennaker, the Sport Boat category is right for you. Everyone can participate, even those who have never raced before! And you don’t need IVF membership for the crew. And if you have a Classic Boat there is an additional special dedicated ranking, plus if you join the Official Classic Boat Registry,participation in the VELA Cup is free – an unmissable opportunity for vintage boats.
A dream trail among the Sardinian islands
The course of the VELA Cup Cala dei Sardi is among the most spectacular on the circuit: departure in front of Porto Rotondo, exit from the Gulf of Cugnana, route to the Soffi Islands, circumnavigation of Mortorio and arrival in front of the splendid Marina Cala dei Sardi. About ten miles of sailing among turquoise waters, white beaches and postcard views, in one of the most beloved bays for sailors from all over the world.
Free mooring for all members
By signing up for the VELA Cup, you will be entitled tofree mooring for one night (subject to availability) at the Mediterranean’s greenest marina, an oasis of relaxation and sustainability between Porto Rotondo and Porto Cervo. Cala dei Sardi also offers large green spaces, sea view lounges and dedicated services to make your stay even more enjoyable.
Prizes, celebration and fun for all
At the VELA Cup Cala dei Sardi, as in all the other stages, almost everyone wins something: prizes for the first in class, for the most elegant boat and for Classic Boats (at least 25 years old), special awards for Beneteau and Lagoon and even for the last boat, but above all prizes by lot offered by our partners. Then, after the regatta, the party continues on the lawn of the marina with aperitif, live music and award ceremony, to experience an unforgettable evening among friends, crews and sea enthusiasts.
