After the debut of the Long Cruise version at Boot Düsseldorf, Cantiere del Pardo unveiled at the Cannes Yachting Festival the sportiest version of its flagship: Grand Soleil Plus 80 Performance. The result of a collaboration between Matteo Polli, for naval architecture, and Nauta Design, for exteriors, interiors and general layout, this boat represents the Italian shipyard’s answer to those seeking authentic performance without sacrificing the comfort of a floating suite. The first unit is already sold and under construction, with delivery scheduled for late 2026.
Grand Soleil Plus 80 Performance: optimized for performance
What happens when a shipyard decides to transform a flagship designed for comfort and long cruising into a high-performance yacht? The result is Grand Soleil Plus 80 Performance, which compared to the Long Cruise version changes its skin while keeping its soul.
The most significant interventions concern the aerodynamic and hydrodynamic optimization of the entire boat. The deckhouse, lowered by 150 mm, not only improves the air penetration coefficient but also gives more aggressive and sporty lines. The same goes for the hull, where the stern has been redesigned to maximize efficiency when sailing.
But it is in the interior that the real stroke of design genius is discovered: by lowering the salon floor by a full 230 mm, the designers have succeeded in the feat of improving performance without compromising living comfort. A perfect example of how technology can serve comfort without compromise.
Below the waterline, the GS Plus 80 Performance features a fixed keel with a draft of 3.95 meters and an advanced single rudder that ensures precise steering and great responsiveness. Alternatively, a double rudder configuration is available, allowing the yacht to be further adapted to the owner’s preferred sailing scenarios.
With its 365 square meters of sail area, the Grand Soleil Plus 80 Performance is clearly positioned in the realm of performance-oriented boats, while maintaining the living comfort that characterizes the Grand Soleil tradition.
Above and below deck
The cockpit has been completely redesigned to optimize maneuvering and livability: benches are continuous all the way to the stern, increasing capacity and facilitating movement while sailing. Two large sundecks are provided, with the possibility of adding a third in the bow complete with bimini. Spaces designed for those who actually use the boat, not just those who admire it in port.
The interior reflects a perfect balance between luxury and functionality, with three double cabins and a master suite in the bow, all with private bathrooms and shower stalls. The master cabin, compared to the LC version,“introduces a new interpretation of space, in line with the sporty character of the boat.” Translation: less frills, more functionality.
Aft, galley, crew area, chart table and crew mess with independent access provide the separation of private life and operations that makes all the difference on a boat of this size.
The Plus Line: personalized excellence
Grand Soleil Plus 80 Performance is part of the Plus Line, launched in 2022 with the Grand Soleil 72 and dedicated to models over 60 feet. This line is designed for owners who want a tailored approach: each yacht is made entirely in-house and can be configured by choosing from different layouts, materials, and finishes.
With 12 units already sold, the Plus Line has been an immediate success. There are currently four yachts under construction: two Grand Soleil Plus 80s, a GS Plus 72 Performance, and a GS Plus 65 Long Cruise.
