The boat show season is the right opportunity to measure the market thermometer, and to discover all the new things that even in this 2025 there is no shortage of. Not only the “main stream” ones, but also the less known and, as we like to call them, “out of the chorus” proposals. Among these there is definitely one that struck us for its unconventional choices, the Global Exp 68 from the Brazilian shipyard MCP Yachts that we met at the Cannes Yachting Festival.
MCP Yachts, the shipyard
Let’s start off by saying that MCP Yachts is a shipyard, established in 1980, with an established track record in the world of aluminum-built motor superyachts. Its portfolio already includes 6 superyachts sailing from 68 to 165 feet (20.7 to 50 meters), and in total there are about 250 units, many of them built for commercial purposes, produced by the shipyard.
Global Exp 68 – crossover boat

Crossover because on this monohull we found elements typical of catamarans and powerboats as well, and that was the intent of the shipyard, which was to make a boat that in a sense carried with it not only the philosophy of a sailing monohull but spoke to a wider audience.

In fact, the deckhouse is clearly reminiscent of that of catamarans, tall and panoramic, with a hard cockpit cover that is also reminiscent of the cat world. Inside, the design is very reminiscent of that of powerboats, including the positioning and style of the interior command station.

The sail plan calls for a 222-square-meter upwind area, to which is added a 40-square-meter foremast, a Code Zero on the 187-square-meter delphinarium, and a possible additional gennaker for the carrying gaits. Square meters that will have to move the 45 tons of displacement when fully loaded, For the keel the choice fell on a Swing Keel version, with a draft ranging from 2.05 m to 4.15 m.
