trimarans A 14,000-mile half-circle around the world for the maxi trimarans of the Ultime class, this is the Brest Atlantiques. From Brest to the Cagarras Archipelago in the Bay of Rio de Janeiro, then a virtual buoy in Cape Town before heading up the Atlantic in the opposite direction. It is the first major head-to-head between the four major players in the Ultim class fleet. Actual with Yves Le Blevec/Alex Pella and Ronan Gladu, Maxi Edmond de Rothschild with Franck Cammas and Charles Craudelier, Macif with François Gabart and Gwenole Gahinet, Sodebo Ultim 3 with Thomas Coville and Jean Luc Nelias. At more than halfway, with nearly 4,000 miles still to go before the finish line, we have seen a little bit of everything: one of the protagonists is out of the race, we are talking about Sodebo, there have been pit stops, flying repairs and especially supersonic speeds.

The maxi Ultime, trimarans over 30 meters in length, are in fact now all equipped with foils. On-board reporters equipped with drones were able to take outstanding, never-before-seen images of these monsters in full foiling at over 30 knots of speed, as in the VIDEO below. Meanwhile, in the lead is Edmond De Rotschild, followed by Actual and Macif.
