A banner weekend of sailing for Genoa Sailing Week, 70th Alberti Cup, organized by the Yacht Club Italiano and open to ORC and One-design classes J/70 and J/80. The ORC 0-A-B classes completed 6 races in three days, the C class 5, and the Monotypes 6. One race with light wind on the first day (interrupted for ORC Cs due to the drop in air), three races in the second for all classes with tramontana around 16-18 knots then decreasing in the last race, and two more races on Sunday with medium northerly wind. All under the skillful direction of the C.D.R. chaired by Franco Noceti.
Genoa Sailing Week, the winners
The most hard-fought class was undoubtedly ORC C, where Davide Noli’s new Farfallina 3, IY 998 Fuoriserie, had its work cut out for it in regulating Davide Noli’s Elena 31 Sangria. Farfallina found the leap in the standings on the last day, eventually overtaking Sangria by 2 points, third place for Adelio Frixione’s X-35 Imxertinente.
In the ORC 0-B class, Bernard Arcas’ Tp 52 Arkas Sailing Team dominated, finishing with four wins out of six races, overtaking Alberto Magnani’s Swan 45 Tengher and Giancarlo Ghislanzoni’s J122 Chestress 3.
Among the J/80s, Claudio Cicconetti’s Cico J won, ahead of Nicola Odone’s Joe and Daniel Spada’s Jayrose. Among the J/70s, success went to Alessio Zucchi’s Whynot, second to YCI’s Bulla, and third to Massimo Rama’s Jeniale.
