From April 26 to 27, 2025, for 24 hours, the waters around the Island of Ischia will host the tenth edition of the ScheriaCup24, one of the most innovative and fascinating regattas on the Italian scene (and beyond). Organized by the Italian Naval League – Section Island of Ischia, with the support of the Municipality of Forio and the Marina del Raggio Verde, this unique competition promises unforgettable emotions for sailing lovers and not only. We explain how it works.
A unique format
The ScheriaCup24 is a 24-hour time trial regatta that transforms the island of Ischia into a veritable “marine velodrome.” As participants sail as many miles as possible around the island, they compete in a sort of circuit in a competition reminiscent of the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans automobile race. Overtaking, lapping and daring strategies make each lap a new challenge, and at the end a ranking is drawn up based on the miles covered and compensated according to the Time on Time coefficient.
Among the new features of the ScheriaCup24 will be a photo contest combined with the regatta and the possibility of following the early stages of the regatta on board tourist boats, which usually sail around the island. The committee is also working to propose an e-sailing version of the ScheriaCup24 and will soon start the process to be recognized as an international regatta, a path that will take at least 2 years.
The Regatta within the Regatta: ScheriaCup XS

Also part of the 2025 edition is the ScheriaCup XS, a short course (the first lap of the regatta) that includes the islands of Procida and Ischia to Cape Miseno. This competition will award the Naples 2026 Trophy – European Capital of Sport is also included in the J22 class regatta calendar and is also valid as a leg of the Naples Spring Championship, the Levante Sails Championship and the Campi Flegrei Championship.
