Only 30 days left until the grand finale of the VELA Cup 2025: from October 3 to 5 (regatta on Saturday, October 4) Capo d’Orlando will welcome all registered boats for a weekend of sailing and fun, there where it is still (almost) summer: in Sicily! The countdown officially begins for the final leg of the circuit that, for years now, has been drawing fans and racers from all over Italy to one of the Mediterranean’s most fascinating destinations. Far from the summer crowds, it is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the colors, the crystal clear sea and the magic of an autumn that still feels like summer in Sicily.
One week free mooring if you sign up
and overlooks the archipelago of the Aeolian Islands, which can be reached by
only 14 miles of navigation. Behind, however, lies the
Nebrodi Park, the largest protected natural area in
Sicily, which, with its characteristic villages and hilly
landscapes, is a favorite destination for nature excursions.
The modern Capo d’Orlando Marina, cozy and with more than 500 berths up to 50 m in length, opens its doors to all kinds of boats for the VELA Cup, from dinghies to the largest cabin cruisers: all you need is a boat with at least 3 meters in length and a lot of desire to have fun. No certificates or special experience required, and no FIV membership necessary, in keeping with the philosophy of total inclusion that has always distinguished VELA Cup circuit regattas.
For all registered boats, the Capo d’Orlando Marina offers 8 free days of mooring plus an additional 7 days with a 25% discount off the daily rate.
Equal arms battle and prizes for all
At the VELA Cup at sea we “fight” on equal terms: all crews can decide whether to register in the Sport Boat category (thus using Code 0, Spinnaker, Gennaker…) or Crusing Boat (with white sails: only mainsail and jib). Then the boats are subdivided and merged into homogeneous classes, and finally the final standings are drawn up using the VELA Cup secret fee formula.
In addition, there is a special ranking for Classic Boats (boats at least 25 years old) and if your Classic Boat is registered with the Official Registry, membership is free for you!
All crews also receive a rich gift bag with gadgets from all circuit partners and the exclusive and official VELA Cup T-shirt. Category winners, the most stylish boat and even the last-place finisher are awarded during the final prize-giving party!
The route of the regatta
The VELA Cup Sicilia starts in front of Capo d’Orlando Marina, first buoy off Capo d’Orlando and second buoy at the foot of Monte della Madonna. It continues ahead of the coast with buoy at Brolo Rock, last buoy off Capo d’Orlando and finish line in front of Capo d’Orlando Marina. Second reserve option depending on wind direction.
